Bernard Georges is currently the senior partner of Georges & Co, Attorneys (formerly Georges &Georges, Attorneys). The firm exists since 1986 and is predominantly a civil and commercial litigation firm. The firm has an extensive international arbitration practice. Bernard is the main person behind the firm. He is assisted by three associates, each with a particular focus on Family Law, Property Law, and Company and Commercial Law respectively.
In addition to his legal practice, Bernard is engaged in other legal activities. He lectures in Civil, Commercial and Property Law to the Seychelles Bar. At the same time, he is a member of the Law Reports Editorial Board and the Seychelles Legal Information Institute (SeyLii. He is the current deputy chair of the Civil Code Revision Committee.
As well as being active in the law, Bernard is also a politician. He is a Member of Parliament since 2001. Bernard regularly advises the NGO family in Seychelles on both political and legal issues and has had a popular radio show on legal subjects. He thus has a unique position in public/private sector matters and generally enjoys the trust of both sectors.
Among the firm’s major clients are Vijay Construction (Pty) Ltd (the largest construction firm in Seychelles),MultiChoice Africa Ltd (cable television provider) and BMIC/Batelco Ltd (telecommunications). Bernard is currently involved in multi-million-dollar litigation on behalf of these companies. The firm works often in collaboration with major overseas law firms and counsel.
